Towing Operations
| STRAIT PASSAGE OF TOWING VESSELS AND PLATFORMS.. |

Following documents / certificates are to be attached to the application :
Tugboat’s:
1. Bollard Pull Certificate,
2. Towage Certificate or Sailing Permission,
3. Certificates about the materials that are to be used for towage (if their ability are not mentioned in above certificates)
4. Tonnage Certificate,
5. Class Certificate,
6. Register Certificate,
7. Safety Equipment Certificate,
8. Minimum Safe-Manning Certificate,
9. Radio Certificate,
10. Loadline Certificate,
11. Safety Construction Certificate,
12. Detailed drawing, showing towage from above & side view,
13. P&I Certificate, |

1-. Statement or Confirmation Letter from P+I Club
* This letter shall contain following, with direct expression:
a) That the tugboat and the vessel that’ll be towed, are under P&I cover,
b) That the Insured is still under PandI cover,
2- If the Tugboat P&I is not containing coverage of the vessel that’ll be towed, then the seperate P & I policy issued for the said vessel, to be presented,
3- The valid P&I Certificate issued by P&I Club
4-. Valid H+M Insurance policy |

Requested Certificates from Towing Vessel:
1. Tonnage Certificate,
2. Ship’s Plan,
3. P&I Certificate,
4. If the Tugboat P&I is not containing coverage of the vessel that’ll be towed, then the seperate P & I policy issued for the towing vessel should be presented,
5. Valid Hull Insurance policy (if she has engine in use, then the valid Machinery Insurance policy is also required).

| GENERAL INFORMATION Convoy passage is allowed during daylight only.
Lenght of the convoy is calculated as follows:
Tugboat’s loa + Towed vessel’s loa + ½ of Towed vessel’s loa
Bollard pull of the tug needed is calculated ( based on the towage speed of min 5-6 knots ) as follows ;
Vessel’s loa x Vessel’s beam x 0,9/100

Escorting expenses for Bosphorus Strait from each other depending on the lenght of the convoy. For your guidance , the scale is as below:
Less than 100 mtrs: 1 tug ( 800 bhp), about usd 200.- per hour
(1100 bhp), about usd 250.- per hour
(2500 bhp), about usd 400.- per hour
Between 100-200 mtrs:1 tug (4200 bhp), about usd 800.-per hour Between 200-250 mtrs : 2 tugs (2500 bhp+4200 bhp)
Over 250 mtrs : 2 tugs (each 4200 bhp)
If the Authorities will decide on use the tug for towage operation, (CER) the cost will be 1,5 times of escorting.
Escorting expenses for Canakkale Strait different from each other depending on the lenght of the convoy. For your guidance , the scale is as below:
Less than 100 mtrs : 1 tug (1100 bhp-2500 bhp), about usd 400.- per hour
Between 100-200 mtrs : 1 tug (4000 bhp) , about usd 800.- per hour
Between 200-250 mtrs : 2 tugs (2500 bhp+4000 bhp)
Over 250 mtrs : 2 tugs (each 4000 bhp)
